Troubleshooting

The most common IPTV playback problems - every article starts with the symptom and the shortest route to a fix

Before you start: most IPTV problems originate with the stream provider, not the player. The fastest test is the same channel in VLC on the same device - if it fails there too, no app setting will change that. The articles below describe what the app does by itself and what you can do manually.

1. Picture freezes, sound plays

The channel plays, but the picture sits on one frame or jumps. Usually 1080i stations the TV's hardware decoder cannot handle. The app switches to the software decoder by itself after 6 seconds; manually it is one pick from the bar. → Picture freezes, sound plays - 1080i channels

2. Channel loads forever

Spinner, "Reconnecting…", an error after a dozen seconds. How to tell a network error from a stream error, why the app changes the User-Agent, and what the codec line in the message says. → Channel loads forever

3. Black screen, sound plays

Three different causes of the same symptom: tunneled playback, a decoder delivering no frames, a stream without video - and how to tell them apart in seconds. → Black screen, sound plays

4. EPG downloaded, channels show no programmes

The XMLTV file has thousands of programmes and nothing under the channels. The three matching rules for tvg-id and names, what the app imports, and how to compare the two files. → EPG downloaded, but channels show no programmes

5. Playlist loaded 0 channels, or channels "#1, #2"

There is no M3U file at the address - a login page, an empty response or an HTTP code. How to check it in a browser in a minute, and common panel address mistakes. → Playlist loaded 0 channels

6. Your problem is not here

Write to kontakt@ipapptv.com. What helps most: device model, Android version, the exact message text, and whether the channel works in VLC. Do not send list addresses with a username and password - they are not needed for diagnosis. The articles above grow out of such reports.
